As part of the DFG-funded PID Network Germany project, operators of selected PID systems are formulating statements in which they comment on the status quo, service offerings, and recommendations for the future use of their PID systems. These statements will be incorporated into a comprehensive national PID roadmap. The roadmap will be aimed directly at cultural heritage institutions and research institutions on the one hand, and at public funding bodies on the other. The German National Library, as the sponsor of the Common Authority File, is the first to publish its statement on the GND. The GND is the largest collection of standard data for cultural and research data in the German-speaking world. The metadata on objects in science and culture become more visible with the use of GND standard data with their persistent identifiers (GND IDs) and can be integrated into international infrastructures. The GND IDs promote the comprehensive networking of cultural heritage and science. The statement has the full support of both the GND Cooperative itself and the Standardization Committee, the highest governing body of the GND Cooperative.
The full recommendation is published on the GND blog (german only).
