From need to implementation: Optimization approaches for PID systems based on user stories

The DFG-funded project PID Network Germany presents a new report: “From demand to implementation: Optimization approaches for PID systems based on user stories”

PID Network Germany is concerned with the use, dissemination and development of persistent identfiers (PIDs) in Germany. As part of the project, events were held on ten different areas of PID application in addition to a systemic inventory. In addition to providing information on individual PIDs, the aim of this series of events is to record, document and evaluate the needs and challenges of different actors in the use of PIDs on the basis of user stories. Based on the user stories, the various challenges and possible solutions and recommendations for action in various fields of action are presented.

This report summarizes the results and gives you practical insights into the requirements of researchers, librarians, research data managers and more. The following approaches are highlighted:

  • User stories: Find out what challenges and wishes different user groups have when dealing with PIDs.
  • Detailed analysis: The user stories are clustered according to aspects and analyzed in the context of the quantitative results of the project.
  • Concrete recommendations: Challenges are identified, approaches to solutions are outlined and summarized in three fields of action.
