Online seminar on PIDs for instruments

Persistent identifiers (PID) are an essential component of an open scientific landscape in the digital age, as they make the scientific research process more transparent and networked. The use of state-of-the-art mobile and stationary devices and instruments in research, such as sensors, drones or laboratory equipment, leads to a large amount of digital research data. Research data is already often clearly identified by PID, but there is an equally great need for data-generating instruments. This calls for cross-disciplinary, community-supported solutions for the unique and persistent identification of measurement devices that are actively used in science.

The project "PID Network Germany" cordially invites you to the online seminar "PIDs for instruments". The seminar offers a very good opportunity to learn more about the application of PGDs for instruments in the research context. A combination of informative presentations and concrete discussion impulses should enable an exciting and productive exchange. The interactive part following the presentations will give participants the opportunity for a more intensive exchange in which the consistent and clear identification of instruments from different practical experiences with regard to needs and solutions can be discussed. All interested parties are invited to participate in this open exchange of experiences, regardless of whether they already have experience with PIDs for instruments or not.

The online seminar will take place on Tuesday, May 07, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. The preliminary program can be found below.
